The Initial Appointment
- Fill out the Client Information and Patient History form prior to the appointment and email it back to us.
- We typically ask you not to feed your pet that morning, in case that certain procedures such as anesthesia or an abdominal ultrasound are necessary as part of your pet’s evaluation
- Water is always allowed
- If your pet is diabetic, please inform our staff at the time you set up the appointment. We will likely ask you to feed your pet as usual.
- Once the evaluation are done or deemed not necessary, we do have yummy foods your pet can eat or you can bring in a small meal (especially if your pet is on a special diet or has allergies)
- Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment. You must bring in your pet.
- Please bring in your pet’s medications and be aware of the doses he/she is receiving, as well as when the last dose was given
- The initial consultation takes about one hour.
- The following protocol was implemented due to COVID-related safety restrictions and may change unexpectedly. If you have been diagnosed with COVID in last 14 days, please reschedule your appointment.
- Please remain in the car when you arrive and call us at 425-242-7005 to check-in
- One of the oncology nurses will then call you to review your pet’s medical history
- The nurse will then invite you and your pet in the building and place you in an exam room
- The nurse will take your pet in the treatment area to measure your pet’s vital parameters.
- Dr. Sarbu will review all the available information regarding your pet and examine your pet
- Dr. Sarbu will discuss the findings and recommendations with you in the exam room. We want to make sure that you are well informed about all the options, so you can make the best decision regarding the care of your pet
- All the information discussed will also be provided in writing
- Should additional questions arise later, you can always email or call Dr. Sarbu for additional clarifications
- Your regular veterinarian will be kept informed of everything discussed. A copy of the report and any tests performed at Veterinary Oncology Center will be faxed to him/her.
- If additional diagnostic tests are indicated, we may be able to perform them the same day. In this case, you pet may spend part of the day with us. Depending on the nature of the tests, you may also be referred to another facility. A cost estimate will be provided prior to performing any tests at Veterinary Oncology Center.
- We do not have the ability to hospitalize patients overnight or treat critical patients. If you pet requires hospitalization or is critical, we will refer you to a nearby emergency facility
